Lines of Torres Vedras Day Dinner, 18 October 2019, London

In honour of the fact that the Portuguese government has designated the 20th October as the Day of the Lines of Torres Vedras, a talk and dinner has been arranged on Friday 18 October 2019, at the Cavalry and Guards Club at 127 Piccadilly, W1J 7PX London.
The evening will commence with a very brief Annual General Meeting after which there will be the talk by Marcus de la Poer Beresford, on The Portuguese Contribution to the Peninsular War.  The talk will be followed by dinner. It is possible to attend the talk only or the talk and dinner. Full details on the attached flyer

War & Peace in the Age of Napoleon, 13/14 September 2019, Kings College London

The British Commission for Military History (BCMH) has arranged a two day conference in London.

In the wake of the bicentenary commemorations of the Napoleonic Wars, the British Commission for Military History (BCMH) is proud to host a conference on this momentous era, presenting fresh research both on the conflict itself and its manifold repercussions for Britain, Europe and the wider world.
 
The keynote speakers are Dr Catriona Kennedy (University of York) and Dr Edward Coss (U.S. Army Command and General Staff College).
There will be over forty speakers with three keynotes from three (or four) continents.

Please note that the event is open to anyone - all are welcome from those who are professionally involved right through to anyone who just wishes to come along, listen and join in.
