:-)
Two groups have now shown interest in taking part in the Ultramarathon next year. Both are from the Corps of Engineers. Surely there are more units from the British Armt that could keep up with the Sappers
:-) Thirty Four people attended the tour of Apsley House on Thursday 31 October. The party included Lord Roper (Chairman on the Friends of the Lines of Torres Vedras); Lord Boswell (ex Chariman of the Friends), Bernard Hornung (Chairman of the Anglo-Portuguese Society) Clive Gilbert & Emma (Chairman of the British Historical Society of Portugal) and Lord & Lady Decies (Marcus Beresford). We were also joined by some friends from the British Commission for Military History.
The group was expertly led round by the Marquess of Douro and Christina Oxley, the Curator, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. A quick taxi journey took us to the Army & Navy Club in Pall Mall for a private dinner. Many thanks to Colonel Gerald Napier for organising this. This was the first social event for the Friends of the Lines of Torres Vedras and was a great success. We hope to arrange more in the future.
